Tool-less PCI Clips

Tool-less Drive Clamps

To gain access to the interior, remove the two thumbscrews on the the back of the panel and slide the panel back and remove. The interior of the Tuniq 3 is like the other enclosures in the Tuniq family in that it has the 3-D Core fan system. This fan system comes with two 120mm fans that can be moved up or down, and the upper fan can be pivoted so the fan blows either toward the back or on the motherboard and expansion slots. Also, up to four fans can be used on the 3-D core bracket. For the internal drive cage, three 3.5" bays sit below the external cages. The seven external bays have the tool-less clip already attached. The tool-less feature is also on the PCI expansion slots. On the back wall is another 120mm fan which is used for the case exhaust. Since the feet of the enclosure have CCFL's installed in them, this means an inverter is present. The CCFL inverter has plenty of cable and Velcro to mount just about anywhere in the case.

Component installation is just like any other enclosure, with one simple task that needs to be done. That would be the 3-D Core fan bracket needs to be removed before the motherboard can be installed. This is done by removing three screws that secure the bracket to the chassis. For the external bays, the front bezel needs to be removed and this is done by popping the bezel front off, as the bezel is only snapped into place. To use the tool-less clips on the bays, slide in a device and then slide the tab on the tool-less clip. This puts pressure on the side of the device to secure it in; then slide the lock tap down to fully secure. Three pairs of tool-less HDD rails are included, and they work by pressing the pins into the screw holes of the HDD, then sliding the assembly into the drive cage.

Conclusion:

SunbeamTech/Tuniq has always offered unique and well-built enclosures. Personally, with the Tuniq 3 I like how the front bezel curves under the front of the enclosure, as well as the cleanness of the bezel itself. Nothing is on the front of the bezel except the Tuniq name - this in conjunction with the smooth, clean lines make for a modern looking enclosure.

The 3-D Core fan system will help any hot system stay cool with all the built-in adjustability, as well as with the option of having four fans on the rail. The tool-less hardware built into the enclosure makes installation a breeze. The only issue I can see with installation is removing the 3-D Core bracket, and that is done by removing three screws. Other than that, the install is uneventful and straightforward.

With all that said, the Tuniq 3 is a solid case and looks good to boot. I would like to thank Tuniq for sending this case out for VH to review.
