Interior:
Remove the two thumbscrews and the side panel pops off. Four 120mm fans are attached to the inside of the panel and they already have the power connectors connected together. The interior is bright and shiny aluminum, and actually laid out nice and looks clean. The front drive rack goes from top to bottom and has five internal openings for the hard drives, while the other openings are for the external drives.
The motherboard tray has all the holes needed for different size motherboards. The expansion slot covers have a single bracket that swings over the ends, locking and unlocking all the covers. Installation:
The NZXT Zero enclosure will be an easy case to install hardware into since the interior is clutter free... not to mention the included tool-less brackets for the drives. Five pairs of optical drive clips are included, along with two pairs for the floppy drive and six pairs for the hard drives. This tool-less clip system really speeds up the process of installation. Simply place the clips in the screw holes of the drive and slide the whole assembly into the proper slot. The motherboard installs like any other motherboard into a case, with the standoffs screwed into the proper holes and all the wiring plugs into the proper connections on the motherboard. Conclusion: I must say I really like this Zero enclosure, from the way the front bezel is laid out to all the room on the inside. The exterior is black on the panels and the plastic is polished and really shines. A word to the greasy people: you will leave noticeable fingerprints .The installation of the drives was a snap - literally - with the use of the tool-less brackets, and once everything was installed and the system powered up, I was surprised at how quiet eight fans could be. The four panel fans and two rear fans could barely be heard unless you had your head up next to them, and the air they pushed would definitely keep a system cool. The front intake fan and 80mm top panel fan were also extremely quiet. With all that said, I would feel confident in purchasing the NZXT Zero, whether it's for gaming or using all the extra room and tossing in a water cooling system - either way, you can't go wrong (IMHO). I would like to thank the folks over at NZXT for sending out the Zero enclosure to VH for review.
