Dell XPS 600 Renegade Systems Sell Out @ Legit Reviews "When Dell put the systems on sale last week they were jam packed with the latest in technology and the price reflected that. The Dell XPS 600 Renegade system came with the Dell 3007WFP 30-inch flat panel monitor and prices started at $9,930. While we saw many publications joke about the rich buying these and some stated no one would buy these Legit Reviews found out that they sold out in under a week! Who is laughing now?" Antec P150 @ Pro-Clockers Antec is one of the top manufacturers of cases in the entire world. The name is mentioned in any conversion dealing with cases. Taking that reputation and adding in the words quiet and well built, you get the P150. Asus A8R32-MVP review @ Neoseeker "The A8R32-MVP's general motherboard performance is directly on-par with the established top-dogs, including the DFI LANParty nF4 SLI-DR and ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe, and it has proven itself extremely reliable. While we're on the topic of performance, I'm going to point out that the A8R32-MVP is still only in line with a one-year-old motherboard. The performance records set by the DFI board a year ago have yet to really be beaten by any board we've seen out there. Given all of ATI's design choices in the RD580, and ASUS' design experience, there simply isn't a dramatic leap in performance over year-old chipsets and hardware." Sceptre X37SV-Naga Widescreen LCD/HDTV @ HotHardware.Com In this article, we evaluate the features and performance of Sceptre’s sleek X37SV-Naga Widescreen LCD/HDTV. If you think Dell’s 30” widescreen is big, your jaw is going to drop when you see this thing… Samsung SP2504C 250 GB SATA-300 Hard Disk Drive Review @ Hardware Secrets "Samsung SP2504C is a 250 GB hard disk drive using the new SATA-300 interface, which allows a maximum theoretical transfer rate of 300 MB/s. Its main specs also include an 8 MB buffer, 7,200 rpm rotation speed and support to NCQ (Native Command Queuing). In this review we checked the performance of Samsung SP2504C installed on a motherboard using a regular SATA-150 port and also on a motherboard using the new SATA-300 port." The State of Digital Music in 2006 "With the start of 2006, digital music has started its growth from infancy into adolescence. In the week between Christmas 2005 and New Year’s, 20 million tracks were downloaded in America, and another million in Britain. Those are some seriously healthy numbers. Not only do they reflect the huge amount of iPods and other portable devices sold, but also the spread of broadband connections, and the fact that people are now comfortable consuming their music digitally, on a track-by-track rather than album-by- album basis. Long predicted, the listening habits of the general population are beginning to shift." Plexi Bending Tutorial at Modders-Inc.com Master Modders Sheldog23 show us one of his secerts for making a custom modded case. Quote: I get asked all the time "How did you bend the Plex for your UTMod?". After trying to explain it to people and describe what a heating element was, I finally decided to write this handy How-to. Enermax Liberty 620w Power Supply Review - XSReviews "Over the last couple of years, PCs have become increasingly busy places. Dual core CPUs, twin graphics cards in SLI or Crossfire and soon we will all be looking to add a dedicated physics card to the mix. Added to this with have the increasingly common "Extreme" cooling solutions of water and phase change, plus the myriad of LCD displays, fan controllers and card readers that come standard with many cases these days. All these things mean one thing, more power. Gone are they days when a 400w PSU would support your high powered gaming rig. Where can you turn for your PSU needs to be met? One solution is the Enermax Liberty 620w PSU, a high powered modular PSU with plenty of extras, but is the steep price more than its worth? Lets fine out." check out our review of it right here! Vizo Mirrorbox 32 in 1 Card Reader @ TechTastic.ca With the amount of consumer electronic devices that use flash memory cards, it makes sense to have some sort of card reader for your computer. Flashcard readers are a handy and fast way to get your data from your digital device to your computer. VIZO is getting alot of attention lately. We reviewed a few of their products, and many more to come including giveaways! Screen on 4 wheels @ PC-Max.de (german) The TFT installation starts our small Car PC series. For demonstration we use a Volkswagen vehicle which is construction in the year 2001. This car is the official project vehicle, at which still further modifications are made. Enjoy! Sansun Bat Case @ ThinkComputers.org “As a modder, I've seen plenty of pre-mods, especially ones based on comic book characters, anime characters and the like. The Bat case is no different in that respect. Here we have Batman's cowl wrapped around a standard seeming mid-tower enclosure with the obligatory glowing eyes and hinged door. But all pre-mod cases are not created equal, some are of high quality and others are seemingly held together with a bit of bailing wire and a prayer. How does Sansung's Bat fit into this collection of pre-mods? Let's take a closer look.” Arctic Silver "Arctic Clean" Review @ HardwareLogic Available in three sizes (2,4, and 8 fl oz.)which fit every need (even the 2oz set is plenty for several cleanings), Arctic Clean is a Godsend to anyone who frequently changes their cooling solution |

| I've just added one more *hint* over in the Contest thread! Click the contest at the top of the page and SNAP INTO IT! A bright, shiny Apple turns 30 Apple's journey began in 1976 when two college dropouts — Jobs, a marketing whiz, and his friend Steve Wozniak, an engineering genius — filed partnership papers on April Fools' Day, their eyes set on building and selling personal computers. Another friend, Ron Wayne, opted out of the risky venture within two weeks. Firefox 2 Alpha 1 @ CNET The changes so far within Firefox 2 Alpha 1 are subtle, but they do show that this "little browser that could" can keep up with Microsoft's latest enhancements to Internet Explorer 7 beta 2. Firefox 2 also has some new tricks up its sleeve, such as the ability to restore your browser pages after a system crash. I just started using IE7 and I like it alot. I've never been a big fan of Firefox personally ASRock 939SLI32-eSATA2 @ techPowerUp! ASRock did it again. The 939SLI32-eSATA is the killer budget board of 2006. It comes with two PCI-Express x16 slots and supports NVIDIA's SLI. Other new features are Gigabit Ethernet and support for eSATA. Also the overclocking has been polished some, the dreaded 275 MHz limit is gone and there are more memory timings options available. With a CPU socket upgrade card this board can even run with AMD's upcoming AM2 CPUs. Enermax Liberty Power Supply @ Hardware Secrets "The latest release from power supply manufacturer Enermax is a “true wattage” power supply unit with modular cabling system, called Liberty. Available in three flavors – 400 W, 500 W and 620 W – we took a preliminary look on the 500-watt model, a.k.a. ELT500AWT." Silverstone MS02 2.5" Hard Drive Enclosure @ ExtremeMHz “When it comes down to quality, Silverstone is honestly in a class of its own. That's their primary focus and it truly showed when visiting their impressive booth at CES 2006. Both Tom and I were impressed with the quality of their new product line, right down to the beautiful new TJ07. However, they have also introduced additional products that are simply impressive to just look at. One of the products featured at CES was their MS02 hard drive enclosure. Sporting an exceptionally crafted brushed aluminum body, and a one touch backup feature, this is one HD enclosure you'll want to display rather than hide behind your gear. Let's have a brief look...” SilverStone Zeus 650W - ST65ZF PSU @ OCIA.net "Moving to the bottom of the box, we get a good look at the NVidia, AMD, and Intel logos indicating their endorsement for this unit. It's always comforting to know the maker of your CPU and VGA card/s recommends the unit you're using. This was the first true 600W+ NVidia certified SLI PSU available for purchase as of 02/24/2005." Cooler Master CM Media B260 mBTX Case Review @ BTXFormFactor.com The Cooler Master CM Media B260 mBTX Case is a very sharp looking unit, and as well suited to serve as a typical desktop as it is to be an HTPC. In addition to the looks, the system has the silence necessary to make it a good fit in your media center... Cooler Master has a reputation for doing things right, and the design of the B260 as intended for use in an HTPC setting is no exception. |

ATI Presentation: The Product Stack @ techPowerUp! In this presentation ATI talks about "The Product Stack" which is one way to measure how much bang you get for your buck. There is a comparison of different price segments against what the competition from NVIDIA has to offer. Also there is a hint of "cable-free CrossFire mode" with upcoming Catalyst 6.5. A Look at ajaxWrite @ The TechZone What if there was alternative for Microsoft Word that would install and open in 6 seconds, read and write Microsoft Word .doc files and run on Macintosh, Microsoft Windows or Linux computers? And oh yeah, it was FREE so consumers didn't have to pay $499 for Microsoft Office. Gigabyte Poseidon Case @ Hardware Secrets "Gigabyte has entered the case business a while ago and their latest release is Poseidon, an all-aluminum case. We had the chance to take a look on one of this latest case from Gigabyte." Cooler Master Musketeer 3 @ PCApex "Scott Stapp's voice sounds good, and the guitar licks are clear, and sharp. That is till the bass and the drums kick in towards the end portion of the song. When the music starts to build it gets more distorted, and seems to be causing the Musketeer 3 to lower the sound even more." Interactive AMD Athlon 64 Socket 939 Pinmod guide v1.1 The newest development of the interactive Socket 939 Pinmod guide is published on ocinside.de. In the new version 1.1 are some new connections to increase the Vcore (CPU voltage) and now also selections to lower the Vcore which is important to underclock processors. For example to lower the power consumption of HTPCs (Home Theater PCs). Silentmaxx Fanless 400W ATX PSU @ Pro-Clockers Believe it or not there are plenty of computer users that are not into extreme overclocking or really don’t need or want to run high end dual GPU setups. Maybe that computer user just wants a very stable and quiet system. And one of those components that contribute to stability and quietness is the power supply. In the quest for those two characteristics, Dave of QuietPC was generous enough to send over one of their Silentmaxx Fanless 400 watt power supply. |

Leadtek WinFast 7900 GTX Extreme @ Bjorn3D When new cards hit the market, I always hope to see new bundles and innovative or at least quieter coolers. One company that has repeatedly delivered unique bundles and coolers for years now is Leadtek. Coolers seem to have lost a lot of focus over the last several launches for NVIDIA's board partners, including Leadtek. Factory overclocking has taken center stage as custom coolers head to the backseat. In this review, I'll be looking at the Leadtek WinFast PX7900 GTX TDH Extreme, which is a factory overclocked GeForce 7900 GTX that features NVIDIA's reference cooler. AeroCool 620W Zerodba PSU Review @ Legit Reviews "Besides the stability, another aspect of this PSU that really impresses me is the specifications. With a combined total of 38A supplied to the +12V rails, this PSU greatly surpasses the 30A requirement for a high-end SLi PC according to this page over at SLI-Zone! If you are building an ATI CrossFire system you will soon find out that ATI doesn't mention 12V Amp requirements on their certified site and only list two brands of power supplies that are in their voluntary program. We contacted ATI and they informed Legit Reviews that their X1900 CrossFire solution needs at least a 550W power supply with a 38A 12V rail, which means the AeroCool 620W power supply will again meet the requirements for both ATI and NVIDIA power requirements..." Crucial Gizmo Overdrive 512mb Flash Drive Review - XSReviews "Enter the Crucial Gizmo 512mb pen drive, a very clean, professional looking drive there to cater for all your data transfer needs, but does it make the cut? Read on to find out." Cooler Master iGreen Power Series Review @ HardwareZone Green power is all the rage nowadays and Cooler Master reacts to this with its new iGreen Power series of energy efficient PSUs. Check out our showcase of its 500W and 600W models. Thermaltake Silent Boost RX K8 CPU Cooler Review @ MODTHEBOX.COM "What makes the Silent Boost unique is the fan. This meaty 5 blade fan is what Thermaltake calls a "reversed fan". There is no housing that surrounds the fan blade tips. Thermaltake figures this is the main cause for turbulence, causing noise when the fan is in operation. The fan uses a standard 3-pin connector whose wires are sleeved. A 3-pin to Molex connector was not included." G.Skill F1-4000BIU2-2GBHV @ techPowerUp! SKILL presented their new 2GB F1-4000BIU2-2GBHV DDR memory kit at Cebit. If you are looking for a well overclocking 2GB memory kit you should definitely take a look. Even though it comes with CL3 timings, it will also run at CL2 and CL2.5. It can do all its overclocking magic at only 2.6V so this may also be a good choice for users of budget motherboards which do not offer allow voltage adjustments in the BIOS. |

OCIA.net takes a look at the Zalman VF900-Cu VGA Cooler "Following Zalman's directions to the T, I install the uh, nipples and rubber rings onto the base. But wait a minute, which set of holes do I use for my 6600? According to the compatibility table I need to put them in either position 1, 2 or 3. Gee, thanks. In other words, try them in each position until you find one that fits..." You can check out my review of this great cooler above. I even added some updates to the testing section Mini-ITX Project Part III - Linux PVR at XYZ Computing "For the past few months I have been spending a lot of time using my Mini-ITX computer. This was originally a project system which I put together so that I would have something small and silent for my living room, on which I could do a few very basic tasks, like check my email and get on the internet. The first part of the project featured a system which booted Puppy Linux off of a flash USB drive, a solution which was simple and quiet, but not very powerful. In the second part of the project the system was given a new case, improved cooling, and it booted off of a LiveCD and could save to a CF card. As I used the system more I decided the best course of action would be to make a few more changes and increase the system's functionality, despite the impact that this could have on its silent operation." Tuniq Symmetry ATX Case Review @ Bigbruin.com The software to control the display is not included with the case and needs to be downloaded from their website... Once the software is installed it is simple to control the bright blue display which doubles as a high temperature alarm. The only problem with this is if you like to set your motherboard up to power the USB connections when the computer is off, the bright blue light will remain on. moddin.net reviews the Enermax Laureate EB305C-B I've reviewed other external HDD enclosures but what makes this one stand out from the crowd is that it allows you to either use a standard IDE hard disk or a newer SATA hard disk. " OCZ EL DDR2 PC2-6400 Platinum XTC @ techPowerUp! OCZ has been a technology leader in the overclocker's memory business for quite a while now. Their new DDR2 PC2-6400 Platinum XTC kit comes with stock timings of 4-5-4-15 which we could tighten down to 3-3-2-4 and still get some serious overclocking out of the memory. ECS KA1 MVP (ATI Radeon Xpress 200 CrossFire) @ HardwareZone The ECS KA1 MVP is the latest CrossFire motherboard to face our lab monkeys and we seem to think that it signifies a 'grown up' ECS. The KA1 MVP delivers on features, performance and stability, giving premium boards a run for their money. Purple never looked so good. Check out our review of it above. If you port a game, at least do it right! @ NGOHQ "The movie “The Godfather” is widely regarded as one of the best movies ever made. Earlier this week Electronic Arts released a new game based on the film. This game was originally made for the Xbox and has now been ported to PC. It follows in the same vein as games such as Mafia and GTA: San Andreas, and has been getting a lot of positive feedback. However, EA forgot something relatively important with this port" Gaming System Specs Guide for the Casual Gamer @ Short-Media.com Hardcore gamers generally know what they need to run the latest and greatest games on the market. However, many casual gamers don’t have time to invest in gaining this knowledge. For people in this category, I have pulled info from all over the net to identify what will run the hottest games on the market. Recasting the Concept of Podcasting: Part I @ DesignTechnica "Early RSS converts saw portability was one of the key benefits of podcasting (that is, downloaded files allow for on-demand consumption of content independent of having an Internet connection, whereas streaming required a live connection). But that's all portability was - a benefit of podcasting, not a logically necessary feature of podcasting." |

ATI and NVIDIA Benchmark Number Problem? @ Legit Reviews "ATI contacted Legit Reviews and expressed their concern the benchmark numbers specifically. ATI sent us a chart where they ran the NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS against the ATI X1600 XT and came up with very different results than what NVIDIA showed us from their testing results...." OCZ EL DDR PC-4000 Gold GX XTC 2GB Dual Channel @ Pro-Clockers Today we can honestly put the words value and performance in the same sentence when talking about ram. Value is usually the keyword when someone was to add more ram to a system to do whatever it is they want to accomplish. Whether it is to get more frame rates out of their favorite game or faster rendering times in that resource hungry graphic application. So, we are proud to bring you the OCZ PC-4000 Gold GX XTC. Asus EAX1900XTX 2DHTV/512M/A Radeon X1900 XTX Videocard Review @ pcstats ASUS videocards tend to have a reputation of being the "Mac daddy" of any series, and its prices reflect this position - about $715 CDN ($630 USD / £360 GBP) for this baby. Of course with Asus, consumers get a nice bundle of extras too. The hot Asus EAX1900XTX videocard is a shining example; it comes with a bunch of useful cables, software, and a full version of the game King Kong. The Overclocker Cafe' has posted a review of the OCZ EL PC4000 Platinum XTC (2B) Memory Kit. The XTC heatspreader is fairly straight forward in its operational logic. By having the main heat plate be a honeycombed type grilling you loose contact area while you gain an increase in air exchange. Air exchange in this context is called convection - the transfer of thermal energy into the air. With the air more free flowing around the hot spots, in theory the convection rate is increased. The balancing act comes from wanting to have as much contact area with the actual hot spot as possible to 'conduct' heat away. Spire RockeTeer V SP-500W @ Phoronix "The last time a Spire product had entered our testing facilities was for examining their cooling contraptions; however, one of their recent creations is the new RockeTeer V SP-500W. Will this new power supply be adequate in providing clean and stable voltages to our expensive, and beloved, components? We shall find out today as this unit powers a new GeForce 7900 and Tyan nForce Professional 2200 motherboard." Q3I AlcoHawk Slim Personal Digital Alcohol Detector @ pcapex "This may seem like an unusual item to see reviewed on a PC performance and modding enthusiast site, but look at our demographics. Most of our members are male in the 20 to 30 year old range. This is the group who are most likely to go out on the town with their buddies and do a little partying. That's why we wanted to show you that there are devices like this out there that can not only save your license, it could save your life." Next up in the VH Labs: How to cheat the breathalizer! |

| Morning Peeps. I just posted our new ECS KA1-MVP review above. Give it a peek-see. After that, enjoy some news ;) Antec P150 Quiet Case @ ThinkComputers.org ![]() “Well we all know Antec and we know they are known for good quality cases. I honestly believe that they are one of the best case manufacturers out there today. There are so many extra features in their cases that people take for granted. Today we will be taking a look at another great case from Antec. It has tons of features and it's one of the coolest cases I have seen in a while. The case I'm talking about is the Antec P150 Quiet PC Case; it's from Antec's performance one series which features such great cases as the P160 and P180. The Delphi MyFi xm2go is a 7 ounce satellite radio receiver and recorder that will work at the beach, at the gym, in your car, or anywhere else you can dream up. At 4.5 inch high by 2.8 inch wide by 1.3" deep the MyFi is about the size of a large portable music player. The unit itself is a model of simplicity; 15 buttons, a 2.2" monochrome display, a headphone jack and a docking connector. Verbatim 4GB Store 'n' Go USB HD Drive Review @ The TechZone The new Verbatim 4GB Store ‘n’ Go USB HD Drive is the latest additions to its award-winning family of USB drives. Vantec AVX-100TX AVOX Jukebox Review @ MODTHEBOX.COM "Once the AVOX is connected to your particular television set you will need to access the various set up menus. By selecting the video tab, here you can set the type of TV output for NTSC or PAL and whether it is component or composite out. If you are using the component output you must turn HD component output on and select 480p in order to get a progressive scan output just like a stand alone DVD player. If your TV set has a progressive scan function on its inputs, you maybe better off to use that instead. The audio tab allows you to set analog or digital sound output." Nexus Breeze Real Silent Computer Case @ SystemCooling.com "Nexus Technology is addressing the problem of noisy computers head-on with their new Nexus Breeze Real Silent computer case. The Breeze was specifically designed to be very quiet and comes equipped with a unique airflow system, Nexus case fan, noise absorption material, and a Nexus power supply. The Nexus Breeze is an oversized mid-tower ATX enclosure featuring a sturdy steel chassis with plastic trim and elegant styling. The Breeze is available with your choice of a Nexus 350W, 400W, or 500W SLI Ready power supply." Cebit 2006: Day 6 @ techPowerUp! | Whew, what a busy couple of days it has been. I've been editing and updating so many things, but one thing you don't want to miss is my ongoing conversation with the makers of the X-Pad. Apparently they didn't like what I had to say about it in my X-Pad Review. It's something you don't want to miss. I'll let you be the judge. On another note, I just posted my VF900-Cu review for Zalman. It's another great VGA cooler from the masters. I've also updated our Press Release Section with a new introduction from Swiftech ECS KN1 SLI Extreme motherboard @ Hardware-Review.net Want an SLI motherboard with many of the same features as “higher end” boards, but at a fraction of the cost? ECS has developed the KN1 SLI Extreme with all the goodies you’d expect from a full-featured NForce4 chipset motherboard. ECS’s top SLI board sports a host of features including two RAID controllers, dual Gigabit LAN ports, 8-channel audio, and two on-board Firewire ports. All in all, this board’s specs should make it our best “bang for your buck” socket 939 motherboard yet. Check out our review of it right here. PowerColor ATI X1600XT Bravo Edition @ ThinkComputers.org ![]() “ATI is quickly trying to take the top slot in the video card wars; with the release of there newest core comes the release of other lower clocked cards. Aimed at those can't quite afford the top of the line technology, but still want to keep playing the newest games. NVidia does the same thing, they release a high end card and after a bit release the lower clocked siblings for those whose pockets aren't as deep. Today for review I have one, what might be considered a mid-range card for review; it is the ATI X1600XT from PowerColor. Not long ago I reviewed the X1300 from PowerColor which would be considered a budget priced card. Let's see how the X1600XT compares with the X1300 which is about half the price, and let's see if almost twice the money is really worth it...” HSPC Tech Station Version 2.0 Review @ HardwareLogic "Somewhere out there, a frustrated PC builder thinks to himself, there has got to be an easier way. He's right, thanks to HighSpeed PC's willingness to address a niche market. The open-air Tech Station won't appeal to everyone, but it's a must-have gadget for frequent upgraders, PC repair professionals, and hardware reviewers. Join Hardwarelogic as we examine the tie rack of the PC world." System Builders Guide (SBG) @ Tweaktown "We are often asked what type of system to build for a particular amount of money. Since it's hard for us to reply to every question, we've decided to launch our "System Builders Guide" feature or SBG for short. It's a new section of TweakTown which will be updated every month with our recommendations on what parts you should buy to build a system based on three different budgets. XFX REVO64 NC3000 Gamer's Edition @ Bjorn3D I had several reviews to do before this product but found myself daily being intrigued by the X-shaped box sitting on the shelf just begging for attention. Today I finally had the opportunity to open that box and dive head first into what turned out to be a very detailed and comprehensive review of the XFX REVO64 SPU, NC3000 Gamer's Edition. TypeMatrix EZ-Reach 2030 Keyboard @ ThinkCE.net ![]() “I have the pleasure of introducing you to a fine keyboard from TypeMatrix. Nowadays, keyboards come in many different sizes, shapes and colors. This is a truly unique and innovative device that you might find helpful if you type a lot or suffer from an injury. Today, we have the TypeMatrix EZ-reach 2030 (QWERTY) Keyboard for review. I would like to thank TypeMatrix for giving me the opportunity to review the EZ-Reach 2030, it's been a joy testing this out and I am proudly writing my review now with it.” Nvidia GeForce 7600 GS Video Card Preview @ Legit Reviews "The NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS is a single slot card that features a 400MHz core clock speed with a GDDR2 memory clock speed of 400MHz (800MHz double data rate). The 7600 GS features 5 Vertex shading units with a total of 12 pixel shader pipelines. This is the same number of shading units and pipelines found on the GeForce 7600 GT, so the only difference on the card is the clock speeds and the memory type used. Thanks to the lower clock speeds NVIDIA has been able to get the peak power consumption down to 32 Watts from the 67 Watts found on the 7600 GT..." | Another middle of the night news post for me. I've been busy busy busy! Although I did find time to write a review today, take a read at the X-Pad review above. Don't forget to read the ending ;) I'm also almost done with the new Zalman VF-900 VGA Cooler, so expect that, and some other new articles very very soon! Thanks everyone. HSPC TechStation is the DawG PounD Giveaway for April @ GruntvillE.com "The DawG PounD Giveaway has been away for awhile but it is back in action now. Xoxide is throwing us a bone with the HSPC TechStation. This highly sought after bench makes finding the best overclock a breeze. It's also great for troubleshooting a system. Whatever your needs, the TechStation is sure to come in handy. Swing by and find out how you can win this beauty." Cebit 2006: Day 5 @ techPowerUp! In this Cebit report we have coverage of ASUS, Gigabyte, Elitegroup and MSI. With those names you can bet you will see a lot of AM2 motherboards. Also nice were ASUS' leather-covered notebooks. Sapphire X800 GTO2 Review @ The TechZone The Sapphire X800 GTO2 is one of those product that bargain hunters love to find. You see, this card really isn't an X800, it's really a lot more. The limited edition X800 GTO2 is based on the ATI R480 core, not the R430 core used by other X800 video cards. For those out of the loop, the R480 core is the same core that drives the ultra fast X850 XT. So why is this card call an X800? Because four of its 16 pixel pipelines are turn off. That makes it just like any other X800 video cards, with 12 pixel pipelines. However, using a widely available BIOS tweak will enable the remaining four pixel pipelines, so you'll have a graphics card with the same number of pipes as the X850XT. Matrix Orbital MX610 PLED Display Review @ OCAU There are a few inbuilt screens of system information, as well as many plugins (and more here), and if needs be you can even program a plugin yourself. Everything from Motherboard Monitor info, to weather info, various distributed computing projects, network info, game statistics and FPS, winamp and media player details, stockmarket info, RSS feeds, email status, it just goes on and on. Zalman VF900-CU Videocard Heatpipe GPU Cooler Review @ Tweaknews.net ![]() "Zalman has a real winner in the VF900-Cu. It brings it all to the table, with its excellent performance, quiet operation and ease of installation. The fit and finish is outstanding and it weighs less than the stock solution that came with my card. As the VF900-Cu is still new to the marketplace, its availability and price point can't be ascertained with any degree of reliability at this time. At $50, this is not a cheap cooling system, but its performance goes a long way toward making the VF900-Cu a good value." You'll see our review of this new cooler any day now. We'll see if it can best my big Accelero's :-) Zalman CNPS9500 LED Cooler Review @ The TechZone Like past Zalman cooler, the CNPS9500 LED is VERY BIG. The unit has a 92mm blue LED fan and weighs in at 530 grams. This is well beyond the 450g maximum weight for an Intel Socket 775 and AMD Socket 754/939/940 cooler. Special mounting brackets are used and care must be taken when moving a computer equipped with a cooler that exceeds the specified weight limit. The CNPS9500 LED is so big that Zalman has a list of motherboards that will not fit this cooler. I'm using this cooler right now. I love it. Flexity PowerSquid @ ThinkComputers.org ![]() “Today for review I have one of the coolest products I have seen to date; it is innovative and extremely useful. It is also one of those products that makes you think: "What took so long in coming up with this?" This isn't a bad thing, just makes you wonder is all, makes you wonder how come no one thought of the idea A LOT sooner than now. If you are reading this review then the chances are very good you have a power strip under your desk right now, well be gone with those blocky power strips, for I have a Squid under my desk. On the review bench today is the PowerSquid from Flexity.” Get a battery backup for your PC. You'll never go back to "power strips" Aerocool HT-102 Cooler @ Pro-Clockers The world of air cooling is changing ever so much. We have tall tower heatsinks, round flowery looking heatsinks and huge flat heatsinks that looks to be the size of the Great Plains. Our test subject today is one that fix into the first category. The HT-102 from Aerocool is a tall tower type cooler that consists of copper and an UV fan and mount. Will the good looks lead to good performance? Let’s see. Cebit 2006: Day 4 @ techPowerUp! Today we have Day 4 of our Cebit experience with the latest products from Biostar, ASRock, Sapphire and DFI. The highlights here are the various AMD Socket AM2 motherboards and Sapphire's HDMI+HDCP+Audio video card solution. Sapphire also showcased their Blizzard VGA watercooling which is based on a Thermaltake design. How To Save Videotape Memories at Digital Grabber The problem is consumer VHS tape isn't be best format to use for long-term storage. Every time you play one of those tapes you wear away part of the image, you scratch the video, you destroy small portions of the memories. If you haven't played those family celebration tapes for years you may even be in for a rude awakening. The magnetic film may have aged and the images have disappeared. The coating may mysteriously peel away or flake off when the tape is played. The memory images are suddenly…simply memories. Signs of video quality degradation can become apparent after five years and even sooner if the tapes aren't stored properly. Laptop Gamers - All about Microsoft Origami Microsoft has suddenly taken the center stage of technology world with its new product called Origami. Every major media of the world seems to be running after Origami now. All the news websites contain more than one article about Origami. It seems that Origami is the next big thing in the technology world is going to dominate the market in the next few months or may be years. Intel is with Microsoft in making Origami. Origami is expected to address a new market for portable computers. It is neither a laptop nor a smart mobile phone or PDA but has can do many works for a user. In terms of size it is in the middle between a PDA and a notebook PC. The only shocking thing is that the device will not be called as Origami but as Ultra-Mobile PC (UMPC) and most probably this name will gradually take place of the name, Origami. Kinc and Overklokk over 20 000 with 3Dmark05 @ NordicHardware Kinc and Overklokk managed to push their Radeon X1900 Crossfire system to impressive 20,080 points, about 100 points lower than the current record at 20,185 poäng. They did however manage to take a photo of a run that ended with 20,184, the system hung the same second the result was presented. NiBiTor v2.8 Released... @ MVKTech "MVKTech has just released a new version of NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) software. NiBiTor is the original and defenitive BIOS tweaker that supports the latest NVIDIA graphics cards. NiBiTor allows graphics card enthusiasts to have full control over advanced features and functionality found on firmware on supporting cards. This to gain some extra performance, enable hidden features and extra stability on the NVIDIA graphics cards." HEXUS.reviews :: ATI FireGL V7350 Early Preview The V7350 is all about the 1GiB framebuffer, so I engineered a set of tests to stress vertex processing speed with multiple large meshes (as sorted and indexed vertex buffers, locked in card memory). A simple 10 instruction vertex shader was used to process vertices with basic LOD, and a smaller buffer was updated after processing just to stress writes. | Good early morning peeps! Before I get to the news, I'd like to mention that the VH Weekly Giveaway #2 is off to a great start! Thanks to all! Saitek Eclipse Illuminated Keyboard Review @ The TechZone Installation of the Saitek Eclipse illuminated keyboard is a snap. All you have to do is plug the keyboard into an available USB port. There is no software or drivers to install. You do not even need to turn your PC off. Once you have installed the keyboard you will see it light up bright blue. This is the thing that will draw most people to the keyboard. The illumination on the Eclipse is brighter but not as well focus as the Logitech G15 keyboard. This effect may be caused by the different colors each company use to illuminate the keys. The Logitech uses a softer hue while the Eclipse is more hard edge. Don't forget to check out our own Saitek Eclipse Review! Saitek P990 Dual Analog Gamepad Review @ Futurelooks Are you bored of that mouse and keyboard? Cooler Master has an all-aluminum laptop cooler, called NotePal, to cool down your machine. Let’s take a look on this laptop cooler." Cooler Master Real Power 550W Power Supply Review @ Bigbruin.com Cooler Master did not wrap the cables (other than the 24 pin power cable), which for me, is the biggest issue with this power supply. However, they did do a nice job keeping the cables separated, and used many cable ties to keep them secure. The cables are pretty long, and I had no issues routing them, and reaching any location within my full tower case. Gigabyte Geforce 7800GT 256MB VIVO Review @ XSReviews "Recently I decided to upgrade myself from my rather aged x700 to a brand spanking new Gigabyte Geforce 7800GT 256MB VIVO. The all powerful 7800GT, but does it really live up to its name? Read on! This card was developed under the NX78 series. This is a card that targets the top end of the market, which means we will be expecting a lot from the NX78. Let’s see what it can do." Aluminus ATX Mid-Tower Case Review @ overclockersonline Ultra, however, has managed to design a case that can be both be trusted with my hardware and also stand out at a LAN party. There is a lot to like about the Aluminus. Somewhere between the amazing paint job, flawlessly finished, the super easy and efficient installation, the roomy interior, the wiring options, the oversized window, and the rubber grommets, greatness ensues. "Why Ubuntu Needs CNR" at XYZ Computing CNR is "a software delivery service designed for Linspire users that makes it easy to install Linux software". Slim Devices Squeezebox Network Media Player @ ThinkCE.net “Media, over the past few years all different types have been flooding our lives, from music to video we see it everyday. There are services to download music and video now. We have MP3 players and media players. This past year we have seen the introduction of network media players. PS3 Delayed - Is it game over for Sony? @ Bona Fide Reviews Early this morning while most of us still lay asleep, on the other side of the globe industry shaking news was finally revealed about the ever elusive PS3. It has been nearly a year since 2005's E3 PS3 conference and with little to no further knowledge being disclosed to anyone about anything, we've been feeding off of "Target" Videos and Tech Demo's for what feels to be an eternity. It would seem Sony had left us completely in the dark. Fortunately today Sony decided to hit the light switch. At 8am in Tokyo, Japan a wide-eyed Ken Kutaragi took the stage with a full arsenal of information about the PS3. Cooler Master Wave Master TAC-T01-PB Review @ hi-techreviews.com Some people say the Wave Master is the signature series case for Cooler Master, while it may be an older model it remains one of their best selling cases. What makes the Wave Master so special is it the removable motherboard tray, or the 100% aluminum construction or perhaps it is just the overall good looks the case has to offer. Look for the Wave Master to remain an integral part of Cooler Master’s line-up for years to come. Spire SP-600W - RockeTeer VI Power Supply @ Pro-Clockers Everything in a computer case these days has some bling factor to it. Whether it is a CPU cooler to case fan grillz. But one of the first items to receive this treatment was the power supply. Being arguably one of the most important devices in the system, why not add some flair to it. And that just want Spire did with the Rocketeer VI. The black chrome finish and the blue LED fan add some class to any case. At the same time producing more power that most would need. |

ASUS EN7900GTX (GeForce 7900 GTX, 512MB) Review @ HardwareZone Can the newly established GeForce 7900 GTX reclaim NVIDIA's lost performance crown of graphics cards from the Radeon X1900 XTX? You'll find that out and more as we dwell into the ASUS EN7900GTX offering. Thermaltake Tribe External Liquid Cooling System @ A True Review The one stigma about external systems is that because they have to fit key liquid cooling components inside a compact enclosure, those key components usually pail in performance to those of internal liquid cooling kits. Consider though, what if you took the components of an internal liquid cooling kit and enclosed it in a roomy enclosure. The result would be something that has the convenience of an external system with the performance of an internal kit. Well, that is exactly what Thermaltake has done with the Tribe External Liquid Cooling System, the topic of this review. Geeks.com Digital Camera Deluxe Accessory Kit @ ThinkComputers.org “It seems everyone today has a digital camera, and it also seems that many companies out there sell accessory kits for them. Today for review I have a cool digital camera accessory kit from Geeks.com. What makes it so cool is that it includes a portable storage device called an Image Tank. It contains a lot of other useful stuff as well, this is going to be a long review so settle in and enjoy!” LG L1981Q 19-inch LCD Review @ DesignTechnica LG is thinking out of the box with their L1981Q 19-inch Flatron monitor. With design in mind, the L1981Q is the slimmest monitor we have seen. The L1981Q also has a number of innovative features such as heat sensitive controls, a neck that folds down flat so you can hang the monitor on the wall without removing it, and inputs that are embedded in the stand, not the back of the display. The LG L1981Q won last years' 2005 reddot Design Award for this very reason. Those wanting a little style on their desk will find the L1981Q as the center of attention many times over. Innovation doesn't come cheaply however as you can expect to pay around $600 dollars for this beauty. StarTech.com PEXSATA22 Review @ OverclockersOnline As we saw in the testing section, the StarTech.com PEXSATA22 is a very good performer as far as software RAID controllers go. The PEXSATA22 performs on par or better than all of the onboard controllers that were tested and did so using less of the CPU in most instances. Laptop Gamers - The Future Of Wireless Technology If you are a part of the modern information age today, you would have noticed that everything these days is moving at a blistering pace. It wasn't that many years ago that we were tethered to our walls if we wanted to talk to someone that wasn't within earshot. These days you are hard-pressed to find a place that average everyday users like you or I would go where a mobile phone will not get coverage. If we indeed do happen to find such a place, we are outraged at the inconvenience. It is surreal to think that something that sounded like science-fiction such a short time ago is now so ingrained in our society today that we seemingly cannot live without it. Well brace yourself for Round Two, because Internet connectivity is about to come of age as well. Cleaning Up Your Windows-Based PC @ HardwareSecrets "Everybody that uses Windows knows that from time to time we need to perform a major clean-up to remove unused junk in order to not only freeing hard disk space, but also to make Windows run faster and make our computer to run more stable. This tutorial is a step-by-step guide on how to make a major clean up on your PC." BlueTake BT400 G5 Bluetooth Headset Review @ The TechZone Voice quality of the BT400 G5 is quite good. In the many phones call that I made with the unit, there was never any background sound or interference. The unit could use more volume however as it wasn't able to get loud enough to overcome the wind noise created by me riding my bike. The unit is comfortable enough to wear all day and after awhile you forget you're wearing it (until it rings). Saitek ST90 Joystick @ ThinkGaming.org “Saitek makes some great products, not long ago I reviewed the Cyborg Evo Force joystick. The Cyborg would be considered high-end. Today I have what some would consider low end, not cheap but lower priced. I have the Saitek ST90, billed as: 'The revolutionary foldable stick for professional gamers', I'll admit I am not a professional gamer by any means, but I do love to play games when I get time, which is rare these days. The Saitek ST90 is a cool looking joystick that anyone can afford.” GAIN (Gator) - Program Or Virus? at Digital Grabber A virus is legitimately defined as an executable program, however, any script or macro should be included in that definition in my opinion. If they are written with the intent of causing harm to a user’s computer or they are written and installed on a user’s computer in order to gather information on that user, then they are no better and no different than a virus, and should fall under the same laws that apply to viruses. Antec P150 Case Review Review @ Bjorn3D Today we are going to an in-depth look at Antec's P150 Case; the newest member of its Performance One line of computer enclosures. In this review, we'll focus on determining how well this case fits each of the above captioned criteria which hopefully will answer most if not all of your questions about whether this case is right for you. Western Digital Raptor X – Return of the 10,000 RPM King @ Tweaktown "Hard drives are vacuum sealed from the factory to prevent the entry of foreign matter on the drive platters. When you open a drive you allow air, moisture and foreign matter into the drive, which results in bad sectors, data corruption and eventually, rendering the drive totally useless. The Raptor X has a factory built in window allowing you to view the drive platters and heads at work, which is a much safer option than doing the mod yourself." Video Card Memory Analysis: 256MB vs 512MB @ PureOverclock Does a 512MB framebuffer make any difference? I don't believe anyone reading this would disagree that 512MB cards will become a firm requirement of high end gaming very soon, but the key question here is do 512MB framebuffers offer anything to us now, other than future proofing? Coolink SWiF Fans & Silent Savior Review @ MODTHEBOX.COM "The appearance of the Coolink SWiF fans are slightly different from what you would expect from standard case fans that are currently on the market. The SWiF or "Silent Whisper Fans" have a nice aesthetic appeal to them and are encased in a translucent clear housing with blue coloured fan blades. Attached to the base of the fan is a 3-pin fan header that includes wire leads for 12V (red), ground (black) and RPM sensing (yellow). In the 80mm fan series, Coolink provides 5 different fans but provided models SWiF-801 and SWiF-803. Ha Ha Bleeping Ha: The Problem with Humor @ HotHardware.Com |

| Good morning peeps! If you haven't already, get your butt over to the Contest Page and enter! Thank you, that is all ;) Digital Content Wars - Cable Vs. Telephone @ The TechZone New Jersey isn't that big of a state that Alexander Graham Bell and David Sarnoff - two of the 20th Century's leading inventors, engineers and scientists - certainly must have bumped into each other periodically. If they had spent more time together and merged their respective laboratories in Murray Hill and Princeton we wouldn't have two content transport systems fighting over who is going to service our home today. But it didn't happen. Now there are too many people making a living with both men's inventions that it probably never will. It will just look similar. The Cable Guy and the Telephone Guy are both jockeying to be the bigger winner in delivering voice, data, video content to the home. Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse @ ThinkGaming.org “Crazy PC is one of the big online retailers catering not only to the enthusiast community, but to anyone else who desires quality PC accessories and peripherals. They carry all the latest and greatest PC gear, established in 1999; they have become one of the more popular e-tailers for those searching for the latest technology and more. For review today I have the Copperhead gaming mouse from Razer, supplied by Crazy PC.” Check out millsy's Razer Copperhead Review Here! Video Card Memory Analysis: 256MB vs 512MB @ PureOverclock Does a 512MB framebuffer make any difference? XFX 7800GT Video Cards in SLI Reviewed @ Futurelooks A couple of weeks ago, we took a shot at reviewing one single XFX 7800GT. Now we're going to put two of them together to find out if the extra dollars are worth the upgrade for the every day gamer. Check out my articles on SLI using those exact cards Part 1 Here and Part 2 Here! Cooler Master Centurion 532 Case Review @ Bigbruin.com I have used the Cooler Master Centurion 532 case for over a week now and I can't find anything that I don't like about it. Installing parts was simple with the tool-less design, and only due to my modified optical drives did I have to use screws. There seems to be a good amount of room inside this case and nothing interferes with the connectors on the motherboard. |

| The PowerMate Contest is doing great so far. I see a ton of entries with only about half of them being the correct answer. Have you got your entry in? HighSpeedPC Tech Station @ Hardware-Review.net As a hardware reviewer, I evaluate new products and swap new components in and out of my test systems all the time. I don’t know about you, but I hate having to swap motherboards and power supplies in ATX cases, unless they have removable motherboard trays. It just takes too long, especially when you’re on a tight deadline to complete multiple reviews. I have always wanted a testing station to evaluate hardware. One solution editors like me have is the HighspeedPC Tech Station. This handy open-air system gives you the flexibility to swap any hardware component in a matter of seconds, which is a huge bonus for people like me who have a schedule to follow and meeting deadlines is absolutely critical. Let’s see if the Tech Station meets this reviewer’s requirements. If you need a bigger unit, check out our review of the Large Tech Station Here! |

| Welp, Weekly Contest #1 is Live! However, still feel free to still contribute your ideas though for the next one. There will be plenty! (link below) It's news time... Asetek WaterChill KT12A-12VX Review @ OverclockersOnline Asetek is a leader in high-end cooling with a reputation of outstanding performance from their products and kits. The WaterChill KT12A-12VX certainly didn't disappoint with performance that kept one of the hottest processors I have worked with around the 40C mark. The ability to cool the chipset and video card were impressive to say the least again lowering the operating temperature of my X800GTO to temperatures I thought impossible. Kingwin SK-523SW Mid-Tower Case @ Systemcooling.com Kingwin was founded in 1992 and specialized in CPU coolers and mobile racks. Since then the Kingwin line-up has been expanded to include everything from cases and external enclosures to liquid cooling systems and power supplies. Today we will be taking a look at Kingwin’s newest case, the SK-523SW, which promises a blend of performance and style. Scythe KATANA 775 (SCKTN-775) Heatsink @ Pro-Clockers Keeping an Intel processor cool is a task within its self. So, finding the right heatsink cooler can also be a task as well. And then finding one that is not so noisy is definitely a job for the patient. Scythe has flown a new cooler to us, which they say will take care of both. The Katana 775 is here for reviewing. Corepad Victory Mousepad @ ThinkComputers.org “Woohoo, mouse pad reviews mean play time for me! Up on my review block today is the Corepad Victory, a hard surface professional mouse pad. If you know mouse pads, then you know Corepad, they are makers of quite a few different styles of pads and accessories for gamers and non-gamers alike. Enough, let's check this pad out...” |

Whew, I just got back from picking up my Evil Twin Signature Guitar over in Pittsburgh, PA at BoogieStreet WorldWide. ![]() I'd like to send a huge "YOU ROCK MOTHERF##KERS!" out to the BoogieMan and the Hitman. Two of the nicest people I've ever met. Keep Rockin` with the BoogieMan and Rollin` with the Diceman! The Overclocker Cafe' has posted a review of the Thermaltake AquaBay Hard Drive Water Block As expected, we achieved a significant drop in temperatures. Not only is this a good thing for the drive but it helps keep case temperature down by transferring heat so that it is blown out of the system by your water cooling set up. Installation and quality of the components was first rate. I especially like to emphasize the long extra lengths of both 1/2" and 3/8" hose that were both UV reactive. It also needs to be pointed out again that Thermaltake gives you two pairs of connectors; one pair fitting 3/8" H2O kits and the other fitting 1/2" jobs. Versatile, well made and very practical. CeBIT 2006 - Day 1 @ HARDiNFO The #1 computer show in Europe is on in these days and every day we will bring you in depth reports form the event. Today we visit Albatrion, AMD, DFI, EpoX, Gainward, Galaxy, NVIDIA and Zalman. Today was all about the Intel ViiV, the AMD Socket AM2, the newest offers from NVIDIA and more interesting discoveries. Thermaltake Silent Boost RX K8 heatsink @ Hardware-Review.net In the past couple years, CPU cooler manufacturers have made a big move to alternative cooling technologies such as heatpipe and phase exchange. My computer sports one such CPU cooler and I love it. When Thermaltake sent us a “conventional” CPU cooler I was doubtful that it would perform much better than a stock CPU cooler. I’ve recently seen alternative technology CPU coolers that performed just barely above a stock CPU cooler. Thermaltake did throw a little spin on this CPU cooler by using a reverse flow fan. That can’t help much right? Let’s find out. NZXT Lexa Aluminum Mid-Tower Case Review @ MODTHEBOX.COM | Luxon LUX-350SA IDE & SATA 3.5" External HDD Enclosure Review @ MODTHEBOX.COM |

Albatron's Geode NX Mini-ITX board @ Mini-itx.comThe other Mini-ITX offering at CeBIT from Albatron was their KI741CX, a SIS 741CX/964 chipset board powered by an AMD Geode NX (fanless up to NX1750). This is more of a budget board than the KI51PV, typical in design and features to many boards to be found on the SIS stand. The novel Northbridge heatsink design is to allow airflow upwards through the heatsink when the board is mounted on its side. Build It: The Ultimate Game Room @ PCMag There's nothing worse than watching someone else play a video game. Origami looks paper-thin: As Microsoft's new handheld unfolds, analysts say it's too pricey and unfocused.Instead of launching its own device, Microsoft (Research) created the specs for Origami, a new ultra-mobile PC, or UMPC, and lined up hardware makers to manufacture the devices. UMPCs will run a modified version of Microsoft's Windows XP operating system, with a form factor that bridges the gap between a personal digital assistant and a notebook computer. The devices are expected to sell at prices between $599 and $999. Amazon in download talks with movie studios LOS ANGELES - Amazon.com is in advanced talks with several major Hollywood studios about creating a service that allows consumers to download and copy movies and television programs, sources familiar with the discussions said Friday. The World's Billionaires @ Forbes Making a billion just isn't what it used to be. In our inaugural ranking of the world’s richest people 20 years ago, we uncovered some 140 billionaires. Just three years ago we found 476. This year the list is a record 793. They’re worth a combined $2.6 trillion, up 18% since last March. Akasa Evo 120 Cooler Review @ OverclockerCafe I'm not particularly surprised that the Akasa Evo performed quite well. The Idle temperature dropped noticeably from the stock cooler, as did the Load temperatures. One of the biggest improvements was the noise level. The testing was done with the fan running just about in the middle of it's available settings. The only noise that I can hear coming out of my case is the Power Supply fan. |

Kingwin SK-523 Mid-Tower Case Review @ GruntvillE.com "Now, before starting any installation or assembly, you should always read the manual. But in this case, you'd be better off if you didn't read the manual. Its diagrams are small and hard to make out, the terminology ambiguous, and it's quality mediocre at best. Luckily, the case is designed so well that one can easily figure out how to install all the components, and not have to depend on the manual at all." Gigabyte Radeon X1600 Pro Review @ PC Modding Malaysia "Overall, the Gigabyte GV-RX16P256D-RH should be one of the entry level mid-range graphic cards to buy. There are few great features that really interesting for Radeon X1600Pro are the SM3.0, HDR, Avivo and others. The Silent-Pipe technology is used on the GV-RX16P256D-RH which is definitely good for those are hunting for silent PC operation. It was said that Radeon X1600 and X1300 series cards will not need a master card to run CrossFire but we have yet to confirm on that matter. The retail price for the Gigabyte GV-RX16P256D-RH is 160USD/ RM599, which is about the price of a NVIDIA GeForce 6600GT..." Check it out!@ G.SKILL Extreme Series DDR 400 (PC 3200) 2GB Memory Kit Review @ HardwareLogic Overall I found this kit to be a great value. The G.SKILL F1-3200BIU2-2GBHX was everything I had read about and hoped it would be. While not quite as versatile as the OCZ PC3200 EL Platinum kit we tested awhile back, it was definitely very close. The choice of 2-3-2-5 at DDR400 or DDR514 at 3-4-4-8 with a very modest voltage boost should make it a good choice for a fairly wide range of consumers. They also check out the Crucial Ballistix Tracers DDR 500 (PC4000) 2GB Memory Kit Ultra X2 Titanium UV 550W PSU @ Viper Lair "Ultra has done it again, releasing a top-notch power supply. Out of the box the power supply felt like a high quality piece of equipment. It had a good weight and sturdiness in your hands that just isnt present on the cheaper power supplies that are available. Stable voltages even under load show this power supply is here to work. With 550W of power, it should be able to handle most anything you throw at it." |

The Near Term Future of Intel (with Implications for Apple)@ DesignTechnica Clearly, Intel has been in a funk lately. AMD has been hitting them so regularly that the old Intel Bunny Men are looking more like punching bags than mascots. At the Intel Developer's Forum (IDF), where Intel talks to those who develop on their platforms, Intel went to a great deal of trouble to create the impression that they are coming back with a vengeance. Laptop Gamers - ADS Tech Mini Drive Kit Hard Drive Enclosure ![]() Designed with the same sleek look and feel of the Mac mini, the stackable ADS Tech’s Mini Drive Kit also offers the same small form factor as the Mac mini - it is just 6.5 inches square and 2 inches high. When plugged into the USB 2.0 or USB 1.1 port of a computer, the Mini Drive Kit is instantly recognized, there’s no need to configure the drive or reboot the system. By including ADS Tech’s Simple Touch Backup Button on the rear of the drive kit, users can back up entire folders or selected files with a single click. Automatic backups can be scheduled by using the Intech utilities for PCs and Macs that are included with the drive kit. Antec Sonata II Silent PC Case @ Digital Grabber The popular piano black case is equipped with Antec’s unique advanced chassis air duct for increased cooling of the latest CPUs and graphics cards. The air duct is rear-vented to help improve silence, and can be adjusted in three directions to ensure that the opening is always directly positioned above the CPU for maximum cooling. Additionally, the Sonata II features a single rear 120mm TriCool fan with an adjustable three-speed switch, as well as 120mm, 92mm and 80mm fan mounts, providing highly configurable cooling and air flow options. Thermaltake Rhythm External Liquid Cooling System @ ThinkComputers.org ![]() “As home theater PC's become more and more popular, there comes a need to find ways to make them more silent. Who wants to hear a fan whining in the background while watching a movie? Not me... Thermaltake has come up with a classy and silent solution for this, the Rhythm External Liquid Cooling System. It has great looks and performs well, let's check it out...” Super Talent Factory Tour in San Jose, CA, USA @ HardwareSecrets "Super Talent is a spin off of MA Labs distributor. In the past, MA Labs manufactured “generic” memory modules to be sold thru their distribution channels, but two years ago they decided to separate their memory manufacturing operation into a new company, Super Talent. Super Talent manufactures both memory modules (including some very high-end models, by the way) and USB flash drives. We visited their manufacturing facility and bring you a tour to their factory." OCIA.net takes a look at the Syrin Nextherm PSU460 Power Supply "The Nextherm PSU460 is just one of 3 new power supplies slated for release from Sytrin, which also include 550W and 600W units. The Nextherm lineup has some pretty impressive features, including the latest ATX and EPS specifications, active PFC, dual +12v rails, and SATA and PCIe support. These models also provide dedicated cabling for direct connection to Sytrin's own Aircon cooling system. Can the smallish 460W unit really provide high-end server level power as Sytrin claims?" Bjorn3D takes a look at the ATI X1800GTO Today ATI released information about their newest card, the X1800GTO. ATI was kind enough to lend us a reference card a few days and we've written a small article complete with some benchmarks. We also got the opportunity to test some new drivers that continues to improve the Avivo video quality helping the card score almost perfect in HQV video benchmark. |

SilverStone SG01-E Micro ATX Case and Sugo Pack @ Hardware-Review.net After reviewing the first version of the SG01 last year, we knew we had to get our hands on their upgraded version dubbed the SilverStone SG01 Evolution. SilverStone has revamped the cooling system in this case and added room for an optional cross flow fan, which should help with heating and noise issues. They have also released the Sugo Pack to haul this rig to your PC gaming parties. Antec P180 Review @ OverclockersOnline From the delivery forward it has been a rollercoaster ride of highs and lows. I think the strengths of the P180 outweigh the many weaknesses, but only by a small margin. And when you factor in cost and the need for a power supply with specific cable lengths I think you need to really consider whether this is the case for you. But if you know all of the information going in and are shopping for an attractive, quality case, I think the P180 should be on your short list of high-end enclosures. Zalman Fatal1ty FS-V7 VGA Cooler @ OCIA.net "Put the card back in your system, plug the adapter into a 4 pin molex, and plug the fan in. The white connectors are low speed, the black ones are high speed. >From my experience with the VF-700CU, low speed will offer plenty of cooling. At low speed, the fan is virtually silent. At high speed, the fan is pretty audible, but nowhere near as loud as say, an 80mm case fan running at a full 12V." Water Cooling Solution from Intel @ HardwareSecrets "During this IDF (Spring 2006) Intel officially demonstrated their water-cooling solution, called Intel Advanced Liquid Cooling Technology. Part 1 @ Bjorn3D The use of RAID, a Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks, up until a few years ago was pretty much limited to servers and high end workstations; this was primarily due to the cost of the controller and the accompanying hard drives. Spring IDF 2006 Conroe Preview: Intel Regains the Performance Crown While we're still comparing to Socket-939 and only using RD480, it does seem very unlikely that AMD would be able to make up this much of a deficit with Socket-AM2 and RD580. Especially looking at titles like F.E.A.R. where Conroe's performance advantage averages over 40%, it looks like Intel's confidence has been well placed. Conroe 2.67 vs AMD Athlon FX 60 (at 2.8) Benchmarks These are interesting results for a number of reasons, we are comparing the mid range Conroe CPU against that of the future top of the range FX62. Thermaltake Silent Boost RX K8 Review @ Moditory.com "Thermaltake is a well known manufacturer of cooling accessories and computer cases. Today, we are evaluating their Silent Boost RX K8 Heatsink/Fan, a copper CPU cooler for AMD’s Athlon 64 line designed for silent operation. How well will it keep your Athlon 64 cool? Intel has already started the ball rolling with insights into R&D efforts to bring about more efficient systems, power optimizations and even some crazy talk of 100's of cores. Check out what went down on Day 0. ASUS Star Ice Heatsink Review @ Frostytech.com "The Asus Star Ice is the companies first venture into the realm of commercial heatsinks, and it certainly captures attention for its appearance. Looking vaguely like a jet engine, the top of the Star Ice is decorated with a clear plastic window with a big bright ASUS logo illuminated by two small blue LED's. Hidden behind the outwardly aerodynamic appearance is a stacked array of many copper fins, pierced in six places by three copper heatpipes which connect to a thin copper base. But sometimes motherboard manufacturers should just stick to what they do best, motherboards." |

Conroe is shaping up and sounding more impressive it seems. PowerColor X800 GTO PCI Express Videocard Review @ PCstats.com "ATi's new X800 lineup competes very well against nVIDIA's GeForce 6600/GT series. These two Geforce GPUs are currently some of the best mid-level videocards out there. The PowerColor X800 GTO is one of the new series of ATi X800 videocards, and it offers up quite a bevy of value for the mainstream consumers. The ATI 'R430' core is built on the 0.11 micron manufacturing process, and contains some 160 million transistors. Because there is no good way to building a notebook computer the way you would a normal PC, we find ourselves buying systems from the very companies which we have tried so hard to avoid. One partial solution to this problem is to get a notebook computer from a company which is a bit cooler than the normal manufacturer, one which understands the needs of the enthusiast. Samsung SyncMaster 910MP Multifunction LCD Monitor Review @ The TechZone The Samsung SyncMaster 910MP is a multifunction 19" LCD panel. This display combines such features as a TV Tuner, IR Remote, Secondary Inputs, and HDTV compatibility. All these features are crammed into a monitor that has a 8ms pixel response time, providing for excellent desktop PC and gaming performance. This is a great added bonus, as many multifunction LCD panels are still living in the days of 25 - 30 ms pixel response times. Battle of the 64-bit Budget CPU - Sempron 64 vs. Celeron D 64 "Intel’s value market was unchallenged for some time with the demise of Duron, but now it’s starting to show again that AMD can put its muscle into both high-end and value segments, and still give the users what they want." Gainward BLISS 7800 GS GLH 512MB @ PureOverclock In this article I aim to find out if this supercharged 7800 GT clocked at 450/1300 can, as Gainward claims, compete against the mighty X1800 XT and if by some miracle it does, should you buy one anyway? All will be answered... DFI RS482 Infinity Motherboard @ Pro-Clockers Most people would not mention the words mATX and overclocking in the same sentence. Most people would use a mATX board for SFF and HTPC builds, not for extreme overclocking. But DFi has released the RS482 Infinity that offers awesome overclocking and BIOS tweaks in a small form factor motherboard. So, now you can have that kick ass SFF computer. Jing Ting Force Chipset Cooler Review @ Bigbruin.com ![]() With the current layout of motherboards based on the nVidia nForce4 chipset, the physical chip is usually located between, or just below, the PCI Express slots. Your only option for an upgrade over the stock chipset cooler is generally another low-profile cooler which might not provide much benefit. Jing Ting has designed a new chipset cooler that takes this into account, and has implemented a heat pipe into their design which takes the bulk of the cooler's body away from the default location. Sunbeam Silent Storm Case Review @ OverclockerCafe Sunbeam's Silent Storm case delivers on its promise to be a quiet housing solution. With their patented Core Fan design and low decibel 120mm fans, this case is only audible if you're using a loud power supply. The tool free drive bays for this case are excellent. The design for the external drive bays is probably the simplest, yet most effective that I've seen. And while all you bling-bling boys and girls will be a bit disappointed in the looks, the Silent Storm has clean lines and classy looks to it. All this for a price tag of less than $70 (and those are the ones with included PSUs that I could find) makes it a bargain. Spire SP-600W RockeTeer VI PSU @ ThinkComputers.org ![]() “There seems to be a trend lately in the power supply industry, bigger and bigger. Do we need all that power really? Or is part of it for bragging rights of who has the bigger PSU? Spire is a company known for making quite a few different accessories for computer enthusiasts, including CPU coolers and power supplies. Today I have the new RockeTeer 600Watt Gaming Power Supply for review from Spire. I have to say it looks great, and could prove to be an excellent addition to any computer system.” |

Intel aims to get back on track SAN FRANCISCO, California (Reuters) -- Intel Corp., reeling from weak sales as it loses share to rival Advanced Micro Devices Inc., hopes to get back on track this week when it unveils faster, more efficient computer chips. CeBIT show to unveil new range of products The most widely anticipated event is likely to come on opening day, when Microsoft Corp. may unveil its hyped Project Origami. It's expected to be the first version of paperback book-sized computers that will run Microsoft's regular Windows XP operating system. (MSNBC is a Microsoft - NBC joint venture.) Gadgets on parade at CeBit This year's CeBit comes at an important time for the tech sector. With corporate IT spending enjoying a modest rise, the future is bright for companies that survived the effects of the dot-com crash and can offer innovative hardware, software or services. But a range of factors--from the rise of Google and Web-based applications, to the broadband boom and the growing popularity of open source--mean even the largest companies can't be sure of the future. No one can afford to waste the opportunity to put their upcoming products in the spotlight. |

The Truth About NiCd Batteries "Nickel-Cadmium (NiCd) is a very well known rechargeable battery technology, used by several electronic equipments, such as laptop computers, cell phones, cordless phones, old motherboards, etc. It is also very well known by its (in)famous “memory effect”, which makes this kind of battery to lose its charge faster when it is old than when it was brand new. In this article we will be explaining more in depth how NiCd batteries work, what and why the “memory effect” happens and how to prevent it." |

The Eight Faces of Windows Vista @ The TechZone For almost 20 years, Microsoft has followed Henry Ford's business model, giving users little choice in the "color" of their operating system - an indicator of their monopolistic hold on the desktop computer. Why offer 10 or 20 different "styles" of their OS when it's less costly for Microsoft to offer only one or two? Likewise, if you're a monopoly, why offer competitive prices rather than just one high price? HEXUS.beans :: ATI Technologies confirmed to acquire XGI sweetness ATI officials seem to be running around denying everything at present, but HEXUS has the sprout that the princely sum involved seems to be between $8-12 million USD, though other sources indicate that it’s probably at the lower range of this figure. Perhaps the wife came downstairs while you were visiting one of 'those' sites? Or perhaps something a little less devious, and you were creating a confidential document as one of your nosy co-workers walked by. A new product called the Stealth Switch may be the solution to discreetly cloak the contents of your PC desktop without raising any suspicion by those happening by. Kingwin KH-300 Media Player Review @ OverclockerCafe ![]() The ease and simplicity of the Kingwin KH-300 Media Center was noteworthy. Having access to data in blocks only limited in size to that of your 2.5" HDD is fantastic. Putting this at your fingertips with such a compact media player is icing on the cake. Keep in mind that when you think 'Media Player' that doesn't always mean watching/listening to things in your easy chair at home. The included remote and variety of cable connections makes giving presentations or trainings at the office a breeze. Sunbeam Silent Storm Mid-Tower Case Review @ MODTHEBOX.COM "The Silent Storm takes on an attractive look, the clean straight edges communicate that this is a no-nonsense chassis. The unit under observation here at MTB features the optional acrylic window with 120mm side firing intake. The front door covers the face of the case from top to bottom, with plenty of perforations. The door is hinged at three locations made of plastic which is standard. Power/reset buttons as well as the power/HDD LED’s are mounted on the door’s exterior. Three magnets are stealthed to the front bezel which secures the door in the closed position." Inside the Google Empire @ Time Our search into the inner workings of the Internet-service giant Google turned up enthusiasm for the brilliance behind its simplicity and success and for its "don't be evil" mantra. But disillusion has already struck for those who think Google trashed that tenet by censoring its way into China's cyberspace Vizo Windstorm and Muffle Case Fans @ Pro-Clockers Ok, this is the tale of two little fans. The first little fan was quiet and low spinning, while the second fan was loud and fast. The first fan would sit in the rear of the case letting hot air escape. The second fan would take its place on top of an overheating processor. Ok, before I get carried away with this silly introduction, Vizo has provided me with two 80mm cooling cases. Each one fits the descriptions of the tale above. Let’s see what the Muffle and the Windstorm is all about. Check out our VIZO reviews up above also! Behind the Curtain: How Google determines ranks and rates of its sponsored links On any given day, Google spits back results to nearly 90 million Internet searches. And that creates about 90 million opportunities for Google to make money. Google wants the world's $800bn advertising industry Mr Schmidt faced down his critics last week with a grand promise. Google was not going to limit itself to the keyword-driven search engine advertising on which its business was founded. It was not even going to limit itself to online advertising: who would, when that still only accounts for around 6 per cent of all the money spent on advertising around the world? ASRock is a subsidiary of ASUS and manufactures low-cost motherboards. The ASRock 775XFire-eSATA2 for Intel Socket LGA775 is based on Intel's i945 chipset and can run ATI Crossfire. Today we will review HIS Radeon X1600 XT IceQ Turbo with 256 MB and we will compare its performance to other members of the Radeon X1000 series, to previous ATI chips and also with competing products from nVidia. Its main advantage over competing products is its cooler design, which blows hot air out of the computer case and thus preventing your PC from overheating." Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro @ OCIA.net "As with Arctic Cooling's other recent CPU coolers, the fan has no "sides". This helps to draw air from more than just one direction. ASUS A8R32-MVP Deluxe @ techPowerUp! ASUS was the first motherboard manufacturer to have an ATI Radeon Xpress 3200 motherboard ready. Some retailers even got their shipment early and were selling boards before the official Xpress 3200 launch. It seems ASUS has learned from the A8R-MVP and improved their board in many ways. Thermaltake Rhythm HTPC Liquid Cooling System Review @ Bigbruin.comThe Thermaltake Rhythm HTPC Liquid Cooling System has taken the formerly extreme art of water cooling and made it feel right at home in an HTPC environment. The extreme cooling and extremely low noise output are welcome features in a home theater personal computer, and will help insure that your system stays up and running without you having to hear that it is doing so. Thermaltake Tai-Chi M Laptop Cooler @ Techniz "The Tai-Chi M laptop cooler from Thermaltake was great in looking and also the cooling performance. The entire laptop cooler is fully made of aluminum with the dual silent 70mm cooling fan, it was able to provide the best cooling performance for the laptop. With the unique foldable design, it will easy to keep while not using it. It also builds in a retractable stationery tray to store the name cards and pen. As for the operation noise, it was very silent as well...." Thermalright V1-Ultra Review @ PC Modding Malaysia "Overall the V1 Ultra brings a few improvements over the original V1 and it worked as advertised. The packaging is nothing fancy but it offers maximum protection to the heatsink, which should survive even the toughest shippers. The package comes with a lot of accessories including eight pieces of aluminium heatsinks and some thermal pads. The installation guide is good but it could be better. We were also very impressed with the overall build quality of the heatsink and the V1 Ultra is one of the sexiest looking GPU coolers out there..." Sapphire X1800 XT @ PureOverclock “The X1800 XT has significantly dropped in price over a very short period of time. Just a few months ago this card was priced at over £400, but now costs roughly £250~£270. This is quite a bit cheaper than the 7800 GTX. You can even grab an X1800 XT 256MB for around £230, too. I already know of many who are making the logical choice and are moving from 7800 GT’s to X1800 XT’s. Essentially what I’m saying is, the X1800XT is a very interesting card right now, much more interesting than when it was launched.” Aerocool ExtremEngine 3T Case Review at 3DXtreme Today 3DXtreme is taking a look at the newest product from our friends at Aerocool. The new ExtremEngine 3T picks up where the AeroEngine II Case left off by adding a gigantic 25 CM (250mm) fan to the side panel. The front of the ExtremEngine 3T Case contains the familiar 14CM fan capable of pushing 68 CFM (cubic feet per minute) at a mere 34 dBA while the new side fan adds another 162 CFM at 35 dBA. It's an amazing amount of airflow for such a low amount of noise being generated - and if that isn't enough Aerocool has included a fan controller to tame these beasts. Using an old modders trick for suspending hard drives (albeit somewhat better looking than using twisted pantyhose or rubber bands) the case can be completely isolated from hard drive vibration which is a major source of noise in all computers. Using this setup, 3 hard drives can be installed. If the user prefers, the hard drives can be installed on the Antec drive racks with the provided extra long screws. Coolermaster Hyper48 KHC-L91 Heatsink Review @ Frostytech.com "The Coolermaster Hyper48's all copper construction is augmented by four copper heatpipes that advance the flow of heat out from the base to the upper tips of the cooling fins. As we will see shortly in the synthetic thermal test results, the heatpipes play an important role. Really though, the most notable benefit of the Coolermaster Hyper48 heatsink is its quietness. The low noise output is due to a specialized Delta fan which has side vents and a conservative impeller speed. The 92x92x25mm Delta NFB0912L fan moves 42CFM of air whilst generating just 29.1 dBA noise, according to the mfgr's spec sheet." Saitek A-250 2.1 Wireless Speaker System @ ThinkComputers.org ![]() “A little while ago we took a look at the A-200 from Saitek Audio. Good Work Systems Launchpad Gaming Mousepad System Review @ Tweaknews.net ![]() "Given the price of the Launchpad, I'm impressed. Granted, the size is on the small side, but larger pads from other companies can cost as much, if not more, and do not come with a frame or mouse bungee. While I can't comment on battery life yet, I can say that the white color used does seem to improve my precision, in both gaming and everyday usage." Interactive AMD Athlon 64 Socket 939 Pinmod guide v1.0 ![]() Again less coffee may be drunk, because finally it's succeeded to publish the first interactive Pinmod guide for current AMD Athlon 64 Socket 939 CPUs ! In the version 1.0 it's like in the previous AMD SocketA Pinmod guide necessary to connect different CPU pins with small wires. The result is awesome, because it's possible to increase the CPU voltage (also on PC startup) to 1.550 Volt, which is enormously important to get high overclocking results. Depending on the Motherboard it's even possible to get a Vcore of 1.900 Volt ! Much pleasure with the new Pinmod and with the additionally published Pinmod help.
